I still remember the first time I heard a handpan played outdoors at a sunset gathering near Joshua Tree. The warm, resonant tones floated across the desert and stopped me mid-conversation. I went home that night and started researching the best handpans, not knowing the journey would take me through a labyrinth of steel types, … Read more

He opened the bag at our destination to find a cracked lens filter and a loose lens … Read more

I still remember the day I bought my first speedlight and stuck it on top of my camera. Every shot looked flat, every portrait had those harsh shadows behind the subject, and I had no idea how the pros got that creamy, directional light. The answer wasn’t a better flash. It was getting the flash … Read more

If you’ve ever watched a Twitch stream and wondered how the host looks like they are broadcasting from a futuristic space station while sitting in a tiny apartment, the answer is almost always a green screen kit. I spent the last 60 days testing 12 of the best green screen kits on the market, hanging … Read more

I’ve shot video on shaky budget tripods, and I’ve shot video on professional Sachtler rigs that cost more than my first car. The difference between amateur and cinematic footage often comes down to one piece of gear: a reliable video tripod with a true fluid head. A quality video tripod is not just a photo … Read more
